Thunderheads are hand sewn and sustainably-made using recycled fibers that are certified under the Global Recycling Standard. Our products have no plastic parts, only the highest quality soft durable fabrics and embroidered eyes and details. Our key chains products use metal chains and clips, which are carefully inspected for quality and safety tested. Our educational cards are printed from recycled paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
All Thunderheads also meet or surpass US and European safety standards. We have our products and components tested in accredited labs for compliance with the CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) and ASTM F963 safety standards. These standards ensure that Thunderheads undergo extensive mechanical, physical, chemical and flammability safety testing. There are no phthalates, no BPA, and no lead or other heavy metals used in our products.
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is promoted by Textile Exchange , a global non-profit organization that promote responsible and sustainable development in the textile sector. GRS certification means that Thunderheads are composed of at least 60% and up to 80% recycled materials, namely recycled bottles and containers used for the fiber fill and surface fabrics. In addition, traceability is maintained throughout the entire production process and our production facilities are in compliance with environmental and social criteria, including worker rights.
Our organization also aims to make a positive impact on our planet by helping to educate children and people of all ages about climate change, as well as supporting climate change solutions. We pledge to donate a portion of Thunderheads sales to non-profit organizations that protect the environment and assist communities dealing with extreme weather events. Thunderheads will also be partnering with charities, schools, and companies dedicated to education and to mitigating climate change.
